Frequently Asked Questions FAQ

Things you want to know

HOW MANY CAN COME? : I can provide customized private tours  for 1 to 11 people.     It's just you and your family and friends.

I will also be offering a few group Activities through Airbnb Experiences.  Please contact me for the link as it might not be live yet.

DO YOU DRIVE US? No, I am a passenger in your rental vehicle OR you can follow me in my vehicle. (Google maps works like a breeze here and nobody has ever got lost)

The roads here are very easy to navigate and we won't be making many left hand turns.

WHAT ABOUT US ON THE CRUISESHIP?  A 10 minute shuttle bus  from the ship gets you to the rental car agency and I will meet you there inside.

I will be a passenger, or you can follow me in my vehicle. ( I can suggest the best rental car companies on Kauai that I use after booking)

WHERE DO WE MEET?  I meet you at your location or close to the area we are going to tour.

WHERE IS YOUR PACKING LIST ?
( It's coming soon to this page and it is provided in your Reservation Confirmation)   We will have a car so we can afford to bring along extra shoes, extra clothes, and leave them in the car. Best to have what we need.

RESTROOMS:  I like the best restrooms available and we will stop often.  On hikes, there is the bushes.

WAIVERS NEED TO BE SIGNED ONLINE PRIOR TO THE TOUR

THE RIGHT FOOTWEAR ON YOUR TOUR IS KEY

... be they flip flops, running shoes or fins

SIGHTSEEING shoes : flip flops, sandals or any kind of shoe are fine but it's a very good idea to bring along some running shoes/walking shoes just in case the special place you want to go to needs them.

HIKING TOUR shoes :  Proper footwear is essential. Running shoes or hiking shoes need to be worn. Tevas that strap around the ankle can be worn but are not recommended.  Just make sure you will be comfortable wearing them in potentially very muddy ( 4 inches of mud?) unmaintained forest trails.

If one person does not have the required footwear for the hiking part of the day, then we won't be able to do the hike or walk.

If you think you want to get into a stream or a small waterfall... then water shoes are key to protect your feet and keep from you flipping on the slick rocks.

HIKING Policies: Everyone must carry the provided bamboo hiking stick

( made out of bamboo by my husband Jay) or carry your own from home.  It's like being a tripod. Our forest trails are not maintained so having a stick is important.  Plus, it can help us knock off some fruit we may spot in the forest trees.  Diving or Jumping off cliffs into water is not permitted.

                           SNORKELING TOURS

SNORKELING shoes  : No shoes, but fins are required.

DO WE NEED TO BRING SNORKEL GEAR?

No, no need.  You can bring yours though of course.  ( FYI, some rental stores have RX mask rentals too, to help)

We can rent snorkel gear on the day of, ( it costs about $11 a person) and return it at the end of the day. We can also rent personal flotation devices from the snorkel rental store.

SNORKELING AND SWIMMING Policies

Swimming in the ocean has many risk factors. The state of Hawaii has the most drowning deaths per capita in all of the United States. And some years it's Kauai.  For everyone's safety, we swim at beautiful beaches that are life-guarded only.

If you are not willing to adhere to these policies , we won't be able to continue or do the ocean play part of the day, and no refunds will be given.

Full-face masks are NOT permitted.

Fins must be used by anyone who wants to snorkel.

Pool waternoodles must be used by snorkelers and frolickers.  (They provide buoyancy, and can keep your chest from being scratched by coral, and are fun to rest on!)

We are an eco-tour: Only reef-safe sunblock is permitted for ocean play. It can be purchased on tour if you don't have any.

Touching /standing on the reef or (ocean rocks as  they have tiny corral growing on it) is not permitted.

How to Book

We'll speak on the phone or via email about what kind of tour you are wanting... and see if it's something that I can do within the time frame you are thinking.

To book a tour, I require a $75 non-refundable deposit. ( it's 100% percent refundable if the cruise ship does not come to port).

After booking, I will send you a Reservation Confirmation by email and we are all set.  Easy peasy!

Beaches, friendly people, and tropical gardens are just some of the blessings that Kauai provides.
